Sun No More is a study of man, the absolute and various cultural constructs, told through the monumental sound of Doom/Black
Metal.
In 2015 first demo was released Pattern of Rebirth. In 2018 first EP - Inferno entered the frame. In 2020 an Unyielding split has been released, three tracks, along side Death Has Spoken and Tankograd. Finally a debut LP will appear in 2023, Tower of Several Gods.

J'imaginais Solitude and Suicide comme l'album de la dissidence — avec un black metal ni totalement dépressif, ni symphonique, ni païen : il était un peu à part — mais il jouait en réalité le rôle d'album de transition. Dans Pandemic Transgression, Funeral Fornication met encore plus l'accent sur les synthés et entre de plain-pied dans le black metal symphonique. Le vitriol saturé existe encore part endroits mais ce sont les atmosphères et les mélodies qui emportent la bataille. Plus accessible.

Truthseeker sert-il à Brendan James Hayter et Alex Fewell, deux artistes versés dans le death metal, d'excursion éphémère hors du sentier ? Je pose cette question parce que ce projet n'a eu le droit qu'à deux sorties : Weightless at Dawn que nous avons ici et Blue Oblivion sorti la même année — et depuis, rien. C'est bien dommage au vu de toutes les qualités réunies dans ce petit E.P. : bien que taillées dans un post-rock assez lent à tendances doom metal, c'est d'une légèreté exceptionnelle !

L'obsidienne est une roche de couleur noire et son aspect vitreux absorbe le regard ; mais sous la lumière, elle produit de magnifiques reflets arcs-en-ciel. C'est ce degré de magnificence qu'Obsidian Tongue vise dans A Nest of Ravens in the Throat of Time. Si la production est toujours rugueuse, le duo américain met l'accent sur les mélodies, plus profondes et mélancoliques. Progressives, les pistes se rallongent et se condensent. Un bel opus qui frôle, sans l'atteindre encore, la perfection !
